Peru’s Nationwide Electoral Restrictions in Effect, Leading Up to General Elections

Nationwide electoral restrictions are now in effect in Peru, leading up to Sunday’s general elections.
The National Elections Board said media outlets face fines up to $118,900 if they violate a ban on disseminating or publishing voting intention surveys, according to the state run Andina News Agency. On Thursday, the last day candidates are allowed to campaign, anyone holding political meetings or demonstrations could face jail time from three months to two years. Candidates or their supporters will not be allowed to participate in any type of political messaging, including interviews, starting on Friday.More Related News
