Panneerselvam has become symbol of betrayal, says AIADMK's Jayakumar

AIADMK leader Jayakumar slammed rival group leader O Panneerselvam (OPS) and called him a symbol of betrayal.
All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leader Jayakumar has said that senior leader and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam has become a symbol of betrayal and the upcoming council meeting shall decide whether OPS will continue as party treasurer or not.
The statement came after an emergency office bearers meeting in Chennai where 65 senior leaders participated, ahead of the party general council meeting on July 11.
As per sources, Edapadi K Palanisami's team has 95 per cent control over the party and as the OPS camp went to court last time, the party has reportedly decided to remove him from the party treasurer post.

However, OPS had earlier released a statement seeking office bearers to not attend the meeting as being a coordinator, he had not convened it. According to AIADMK, OPS and EPS have ceased to be coordinator and co-coordinator as the resolution extending their terms was not passed by the general council, which ended in a ruckus.
When asked about OPS’ statement, Jayakumar claimed that as the 23 resolutions were not passed in June 23 meeting, the positions of coordinator and co-coordinator had expired and that as per party rules, Presidium Chairman Thamizhmagan Hussain was authorised to convene the meeting.
Also, during the event, a party worker tore out the picture of OPS on a banner inside the party HQ. This development comes after OPS's name was omitted from the party mouthpiece ‘Namadhu Amma’.
