Doha, Qatar: Mexico’s Pachuca triumphed 3-0 over Brazil’s Botafogo, delivering a second-half masterclass to clinch the prestigious Derby of the Americas title at Stadium 974 on Wednesday. Oussama Idrissi opened the scoring with a stunning goal in the 50th minute, followed by Nelson Deossa, who doubled the lead in the 66th. Salomon Rondon sealed the emphatic victory in the 80th minute.
Despite creating several opportunities, Botafogo struggled with execution throughout the match. Pachuca will now face Egypt’s Al Ahly in the FIFA Challenger Cup on Saturday at the same venue, with European champions Real Madrid awaiting the winners for the FIFA Intercontinental Cup showdown at Lusail Stadium next Wednesday.
