With the threat of the Omicron variant looming large, the EC has asked UP government to furnish details of measures taken to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the state ahead of Assembly elections.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has sought details of steps taken by the Uttar Pradesh government to curb the spread of the Omicron variant in the state. This development comes months ahead of Assembly polls in five states, including UP.
Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh are slated to be held between January and March of next year. The EC is expected to issue a notification on the final dates by the third week of January.
