After the remarks of former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma remained the topic of discussion for a few days, the focus is now on anyone who hurts religious feelings, irrespective of his community or political affiliation.

1. Towards the end of May, Nupur Sharma, then a spokesperson for the ruling BJP, commented on Prophet Muhammad during a TV debate, sparking a massive outrage globally.
2. Soon after the debate was aired, an Islamic organisation called for a shutdown at Parade Market — one of the biggest wholesale markets in Kanpur. This resulted in a clash between two groups. The police arrested at least 38 people in connection with the violence.
