In a press conference, Noida Police Commissioner Alok Singh explained how self-proclaimed BJP leader Shrikant Tyagi, who abused and assaulted a woman, got arrested.
The Noida police Tuesday arrested Shrikant Tyagi, who identifies himself on social media as a national executive member of the BJP's Kisan Morcha, along with three others in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut district.
Tyagi was booked by the Noida Police for allegedly abusing and assaulting a woman following a spat on the premises of Grand Omaxe in Noida Sector 93B, following which he was on the run. Following his arrest, Noida Police held a press conference regarding the arrest of Shrikant.
Giving details of the incident, Noida Police Commissioner Alok Singh said, "On August 5, we received information about a video related to Sector 93 following which a Nodal officer and the Station House Officer of the police station were asked to take immediate action."

"The police approached the victim and, on the basis of a written complaint given by her, lodged an FIR following which a manhunt was launched to trace Shrikant Tyagi. We took immediate action in the case," the top cop said.
While 12 police teams and the Uttar Pradesh STF searched for Shrikant Tyagi across three states, the absconding politician was using an alternate mobile number to speak to his wife Anu Tyagi and consult with his lawyer, police sources said.
The police got a tip off on Tyagi's location as he was constantly trying to get in touch with his wife and lawyer. He had reached Saharanpur on Monday night. On Tuesday morning, he arrived in Meerut where he got arrested. He had decided to surrender before the court on Wednesday after meeting his close ones.
