Mumbai sees uptick in Covid-19 cases with 1,803 infections in 24 hours

In the last 24 hours, Mumbai has recorded 1,803 new Covid-19 cases. The city recorded two new deaths due to coronavirus.
Mumbai reported 1,803 new Covid-19 cases with two deaths on Sunday. There has been a significant increment in the coronavirus cases across the city in the last few weeks. The death toll has also reached seven cases in the last 12 days.
As per the data revealed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the test positivity rate or TPR stood at 11.3 per cent with 15,922 tests being conducted the previous day.
The active caseload in the city stood at 10,889 on Sunday.
The rapid rise in cases has brought down Mumbai’s doubling rate to 513 days. While the number of cases has been rising in the city since last month, in the last 12 days, the death toll has also been on the rise.
Two patients who died due to Covid-19 on Sunday were in their 40s and had no known comorbidities.
According to BMC's data, 959 patients were discharged on Sunday, while 111 were admitted to the hospital. Around 94 per cent of the patients who tested positive for Covid-19 were asymptomatic.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra reported 2,946 fresh coronavirus cases on Sunday, taking the total tally to 79,10,577.
