Mumbai Indians reveal names of franchises in South Africa and UAE T20 Leagues

Mumbai Indians (MI), the five-time IPL champions, formed the two teams keeping in mind the fans in Cape Town and the Emirates.
Mumbai Indians (MI), on Thursday, August 10, revealed the names of their two franchises in the South Africa T20 League and UAE’s International League T20. Reliance Industries Limited, the owners of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, MI, named UAE’s team ‘MI Emirates’ and South Africa’s team ‘MI Cape Town’.
Phonetically, the two teams will be called “MY Cape Town” and “MY Emirates”, and they are dedicated to the ardent fans of Cape Town and the Emirates.
“It gives me great pleasure to welcome ‘MI Emirates’ & ‘MI Cape Town’, the newest additions to our #Onefamily. For us, MI goes beyond cricket. It embodies the ability to dream, be fearless and foster a positive attitude in life.
“I am sure that both MI Emirates and MI Cape Town will embrace the same ethos and take MI’s global cricket legacy to even greater heights!” Mrs. Nita M. Ambani, the Director of Reliance Industries, was quoted as saying in a statement on MI's official website.
MI remain the most successful team in the history of the IPL. The team, captained by Rohit Sharma, won the T20 league as many as five times from 2013 to 2019. However, the Mumbai-based team failed to qualify for the playoffs in the previous two editions of the league.
In the meantime, South Africa’s T20 league has signed up 30 marquee players for the upcoming championship. However, the country’s board is yet to reveal the names of the cricketers. Each franchise in the CSA T20 league is set to have 17 players and the teams will have to pre-sign five players.
