Nearly 70 films to be screened at festival
The Regional International Film Festival of Kerala (RIFFK) scheduled to take place at Saritha, Savitha and Kavitha cinemas in the city between April 1 and 5 will be inaugurated by actor Mohanlal on April 1.
Culture Minister Saji Cherian will preside over the event scheduled to get under way at 9 a.m. at Saritha cinema. Writer N.S. Madhavan will be the chief guest.
T.J. Vinod, MLA, will release the festival handbook while Mayor M. Anilkumar will release the festival bulletin. Organising committee chairman Joshiy, Chalachitra Academy chairman Ranjith, secretary C. Ajoy, vice chairman Premkumar and artistic director Beena Paul will be present at the event.
Rehana Maryam Noor, a collaborative venture of Bangladesh, Singapore and Qatar, will be screened as the opening film of the festival.
Nearly 70 films, including the Costa Rican film Clara Sola, which won the Golden Crow Pheasant (Suvarna Chakoram) at the IFFK this year, Koozhangal, which won three awards including the audience poll award, and Camila Comes Out Tonight which won the Silver Crow Pheasant (Rajata Chakoram) besides the restored Kummatti and films that won other honours will be screened at the RIFFK.
Famous photographer Sivan’s collection of film-related images and pages from Anoop Radhakrishnan’s thesis on title design in Malayalam films will be exhibited as part of the festival. Open forum, seminar and symposiums will also be held.
Delegate registration for the Kochi edition of the IFFK is under way. The fee for students and assistants and associates in the film field is ₹250. It is ₹500 for the general public. Registration can be done either on https://registration.iffk.in/ or through the delegate cell at Saritha cinema.
