Meet China's Royal Enfield Himalayan copy: Gets TFT screen and USDs!
India Today
The Hanway G30 is less China's answer to the Himalayan and more an unapologetic copy, but there's still a lot to like on the G30
It's far from news when a Chinese copy of a popular vehicle emerges and breaks the internet for its blatant disregard for copyright laws. Truth is, most of them are laughable copies but what happens when the copy turns out to be more tempting than the original? Well, that's exactly the emotional rollercoaster that we've been on ever since we discovered the Hanway G30. The G30 is a 250cc adventure tourer from the People's Republic, but what's caught our attention is its likeness to our very own Royal Enfield Himalayan. Except the Hanway, at least on paper, seems to have the Himalayan down spec for spec. Worst bit is most of the additional kit is stuff that we would've loved to see on the new Himalayan including the tubeless tyres on spoke wheels, TFT instruments, USD forks and LED headlamps with a DRL. To add insult to injury the 250cc G30 cost an equivalent of Rs 1.92lakh. Which is quite a bit cheaper than the Royal Enfield. While it may look identical to the Himalayan the Hanway misses out on the Himalayan's torquey long stroke single cylinder and gets a 249cc single cylinder motor that makes 26bhp and 22Nm of torque. Although it's nestled in a similar duplex split double cradle chassis like the Himalayan, with a 35mm USD upfront and a monoshock at the rear.More Related News
