Stewart and Jessica Friesen will attempt to become the first married couple to race against each other at a major NASCAR race since Elton Sawyer and Patty Moise in the 1990s.
The track at Bristol has been covered in red clay for the event, making it the perfect venue for the historic attempt. It won’t be the first time they’ve raced against each other. Two days after their wedding in 2014 they finished 1-2 in a sprint car race at Utica-Rome Speedway near their home in upstate New York and did it again at Fonda speedway last summer. "It was ‘Stewart Friesen and wife ran one and two’," Jessica said, smirking.
