Man with ISIS-links planning Independence Day attack sent to jail till Aug 22

The UP Anti-Terrorism Squad arrested a man with suspected links to ISIS. The accused was planning an attack on Independence Day.
A man with suspected linked to ISIS was arrested by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. He was sent to judicial custody till August 22 on Wednesday.
The accused, identified as Sabauddin Azmi, was planning an attack on Independence Day.
Sabauddin was in direct contact with the recruiter of ISIS. At present, he is a member of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM).
The accused was arrested on Tuesday. The ATS also recovered Improvised explosive device (IED)-making materials from the suspect's possession. They also recovered illegal weapons and cartridges.
The ATS searched Sabauddin’s mobile phone and evidence of his association with Al-Saqr media, a Telegram channel created by the banned terrorist organisation, ISIS, was found.
