Maharashtra reports first case of Zika virus in Pune

The patient developed fever earlier this month, following which her samples were sent to the National Institute of Virology. On Friday, NIV confirmed she had contracted Zika virus, making her the first such case in Maharashtra.
Maharashtra has reported its first case of Zika virus in Belsar village in Purandar taluka of Pune district. Officials said the patient, a 50-year-old woman, developed fever earlier this month but has now recovered completely. No one in her family has shown any symptoms of the disease. Her sample was sent to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) for examination, and she was diagnosed with the virus on July 30, making her the first case of Zika virus in the state.More Related News
