
MA&UD Minister visits Prayagraj to aid State’s preparations for Godavari Maha Pushkaram in 2027

Minister Ponguru Narayana prepares for Godavari Pushkaram by studying successful Maha Kumbh Mela arrangements in Uttar Pradesh.
Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Ponguru Narayana has set the ball rolling on the arrangements to be made for the ensuing Godavari Maha Pushkaram, by visiting Maha Kumbh Mela site at Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh.
An event observed once in 12 years to celebrate the glory of river Godavari, the Godavari Pushkaram is scheduled to be conducted in July 2027. The State is getting into the preparatory mode for making the event a grand success by taking a cue from the Uttar Pradesh government after the recently-concluded Maha Kumbh Mela, an event conducted on similar lines.
The delegation led by Mr. Narayana and comprising the Commissioner and Director (Municipal Administration) Sampath Kumar and Rajamahendravaram Municipal Commissioner Ketan Garg among others visited Prayagraj on a two-day tour, which ended on Tuesday. They traced the areas thronged by the crores of devotees to understand the efforts taken by the authorities for the successful conduct of the mega event.
Kumbh Mela officer Vijay Kiran Anand gave a presentation on the timelines of activities taken up ahead of the event, crowd management strategies, traffic regulation, development of parking lots, staggering of crowd to the various venues among others.
The delegation also visited the Maha Kumbh command control centre, which monitors all the activities pertaining to the congregation and passes on suitable instructions to the officials. The State team visited the various bathing ghats to get first-hand information on managing the inflow of devotees and maintenance of hygiene. They also studied how the ‘puja’ material dumped by the visiting devotees into the river is systematically cleared to keep the flowing water clean.

Alva’s Institute of Engineering and Technology (AIET), in association with the Institute of Industrial Nanomaterials, Kumamoto University, Japan, and BETA CAE Systems India Pvt. Ltd, Bengaluru, hosted a two-day international symposium on ‘Recent Advances in Materials Joining and Manufacturing Processes’ in Moodbidri recently.
