Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi assumes charge of Army's Northern Command

Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi took over as the new General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the prestigious Northern Command on Tuesday.
Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi took over as the new General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the prestigious Northern Command on Tuesday.
Lt Gen assumed office after paying homage to the martyrs at Dhruva War Memorial, followed by greetings to all ranks. He expressed his commitment to take forward the excellent work by his predecessors and all ranks of the Northern Command.

Before being appointed as the Army Commander, Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi was the Deputy Chief of the Army Staff. He was commissioned into the Jammu And Kashmir Rifles Regiment. In a career of over 37 years, he has served across a wide spectrum of terrain and operational profiles.
Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi is an alumnus of Sainik School, Rewa, National Defence Academy, and Indian Military Academy.
He was graduated from the prestigious Defence Service Staff College, attended Higher Command Course at Army War College and the National Defence College equivalent course at United State Army War College.
Lt Gen Dwivedi commanded his battalion in the Kashmir Valley, Assam Rifles Sector along the Indo-Myanmar Border, Inspectorate General Assam Rifles (IGAR, East).
