A case has been lodged against Rajachandra Ramanagowda under the Indian Penal Code for wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot, wanton vilification or attacks upon the religion, race and a deliberate and malicious act intended to outrage religious feelings.
The leader of a right-wing group in Karnataka’s Raichur district courted controversy as he asked youngsters to engage in “love kesari” to counter “love jihad”.
“All you youngsters practise love kesari and not love jihad. You have to do it,” Sri Ram Sene leader Rajachandra Ramanagowda told the gathering on Sunday.
Love jihad is a concept propounded by Hindu right-wing groups that suggests that Muslim men target Hindu women to convert them to Islam by feigning love.
In his speech, Rajachandra Ramanagowda said, “On this stage we should send a message to all our girls that if any Muslim man troubles a Hindu woman, I am there, our brothers are there, come to us. We shouldn’t just brandish our swords. We should use them on these men (who target Hindu girls and women). Let's protect our religion.”
