Kerala man arrested for sexually harassing, threatening minor girl online

Binu met the girl on social media and got close to her. Later, he contacted her on Facebook and said that if she did not send him nude images, he would circulate morphed images of her on social media.
Kerala cybercrime police arrested a 23-year-old youth for sexually harassing and threatening a minor schoolgirl online. The Kollam rural cyber crime police arrested Binu from Varkala after three months of investigation.
Binu was a daily wage worker and befriended the girl through social media and asked her to send pictures. Later, he threatened her on Facebook, saying he would circulate morphed images of her on social media if she did not send him nude pictures.
After that, the girl informed her family, who lodged a complaint with the police. The girl only had his Facebook ID, and the police were able to retrieve the phone number linked to the ID.
Police said that the SIM card number belonged to a woman. Upon investigation, police discovered it was his mother’s number and then tracked him down.
A police team arrested him and produced him in court, which remanded him to 14 days in judicial custody.
