Jharkhand woman tonsured, face blackened for eloping with lover

A woman was allegedly tonsured and her face was smeared with black ink in the Palamu district of Jharkhand on Sunday for eloping with lover a month ago.

A woman in Jharkhand was allegedly tonsured and her face was smeared with black ink because she ran away with her lover. The incident took place when she was brought home with the help of villagers in the Palamu district of Jharkhand. After reaching home, her head was allegedly shaved, her face was blackened. She was also beaten up and then sent back with her lover, police said. An FIR was filed against 12 people, including the woman's husband.
