IndiGo on June 7 helped with live organ transport from Vadodara to Mumbai.
IndiGo on June 7 successfully transported a live organ from Vadodara to Mumbai on flight 6E 6734. The airlines transported a donated heart in just over two hours.
According to a statement by IndiGo, a team of doctors in Vadodara harvested the heart, which was then transferred to the hospital in Mumbai for a successful transplant, saving a life. IndiGo also provided transport to take the live heart from the airport to the Mumbai hospital.
"Every life is precious, and IndiGo appreciates the opportunity to have contributed to saving one. I would also like to congratulate our airport staff at Vadodara and Mumbai and crew members who contributed to this effort,” an IndiGo official said.
Earlier, IndiGo had also successfully helped transport live organs - a pair of lungs, from Pune to Hyderabad on May 20. For this special initiative, a green corridor was created in Pune and Hyderabad.
