An Indian Navy sailor was mugged by two miscreants in South Mumbai. Both the accused have been arrested by police.
The MRA Marg Police Station has arrested two men accused of mugging an Indian Navy sailor, who suffered deep cut injuries on his palm after he ended up in a scuffle to avoid being robbed.
The accused have been identified as Wasim Mohammad Sheikh, 32, alias Tirchi Topi and Amin Mohammad Yasin Khan, 28, alias Amin Tiger.
"Out on a walk, he was on his phone at Carnac Bunder Bridge, when the accused duo appeared out of nowhere and accosted him. They had been observing him from a distance before they attacked him. At first, they attempted to snatch his phone and rob him of money. The victim resisted and put up a fight, but they still managed to take his phone away. Thankfully, he did not have any valuables or jewelry, but in the scuffle the accused managed to slash the victim's palm a few times and the Navy man suffered deep cuts," said PSI Dinesh Patil of MRA Marg Police Station.

The victim (identity protected), originally a Chennai resident, lives inside the staff quarters at the naval dockyard and was out for a stroll on the night of April 17, when the unfortunate incident took place.
The 24-year-old naval recruit is currently undergoing treatment and is recuperating at the military hospital, INHS Asvini.
"The detection and police station staff arrested the pair within 36 hours of the complaint being registered. The pair, both Dongri residents, were arrested from their homes on April 19. They were unemployed and were addicted to drugs. We have recovered the phone they snatched from the sailor. Sheikh has a past history of engaging in criminal activities. There are cases against him at other police stations too. We scanned the CCTV footage right from the crime spot until the point they went to and, along with human intelligence, arrested them in the middle of the night," said PN Prashant Chavan of the detection team.
