Karnataka Education Minister BC Nagesh has reiterated government's stand on the hijab row and said the uniform policy introduced by the government is very clear. He also urged students to maintain peace while the High Court hears the matter.
The government order states that students will have to wear the dress chosen by the college development committee in all colleges under the education department. The order further banned clothes that disturb equality, integrity, and public law and order.
BC Nagesh tweeted, "State government's stand on uniform policy is very clear. Hearing of a petition filed in the high court by some students on this issue is going on. The government has declared a three day holiday for 9-12 standards in order to maintain law and order. I request everyone to maintain peace."

Chief Minister Bommai announced the closure of all schools and colleges after protests erupted across several places in the state. Some incidents of stone-pelting and use of force by police were also reported.
