HCLTech’s new devliery centre opened in Hyderabad by Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy. He spoke about Telangana’s potential to attract investments, Hyderabad’s competition with global cities.
Telangana and Hyderabad are among the fastest growing States and cities in India and over the past one year received highest investments as well as emerged on top of the list in terms of Artificial Intelligence (AI) adoption, according to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
The Chief Minister, speaking after inaugurating a 3.2 lakh sq ft global delivery centre of IT firm HCL Tech in Hyderabad that can accommodate 5,000 people, said this on Thursday (February 27, 2025) citing how his government is committed to make Telangana a $1 trillion economy notwithstanding the scepticism around various ambitious targets from a section of the people.
Noting that many who doubted the ability to achieve the targets were now veering around, Mr. Reddy said a pointer to ‘Telangana Raising’ were domestic and foreign firms investments the State has been attracting. Referring to his investment promotion visits abroad, since assuming office in December 2023, he said while one of trips helped attract ₹40,000 crore investment proposals, another saw firms committing to invest ₹1.78 lakh crore.
People now agree Hyderabad is unstoppable and not in the race with other major India cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore or Chennai, he said, seeking to highlight how global cities are the real competition for State capital in terms of attracting investments. Hyderabad is leading in electric vehicle (EV) adoption and the government has transformed the State into a hub for datacentres, green energy, Life Sciences, skills, manufacturing and agri processing, he said.
On HCLTech, he said as a global company it has made India proud and employs more than 2.2 lakh people across locations in several countries. “Today, with this new world-class facility, HCLTech will accomplish great things from Telangana,” he said.
HCLTech CEO and managing director C. Vijayakumar said the company established presence in Hyderabad in 2007. It now operates five centres across the city employing more than 10,000 people to deliver cutting edge solutions in Cloud, AI and engineering. “Whenever our clients visit [facilities in Hyderabad], they go back very impressed... easy for us to expand. We will accommodate about 5,000 people in the new delivery centre and continue to expand as we scale our business.”
Some pioneering cutting edge AI, Cloud and digital transformation solutions driving innovation for the company’s global clients in hitech, life sciences and financial services sectors will be undertaken from the new facility. “Hyderabad is a strategic location in our global network to deliver these solutions and support growth of GCC ,” he said, the city with its modern infrastructure and rich pool of tech talent is a magnet for global tech companies.
