Mysuru Hanumanothsava Samithi procession for Hanuma Jayanti attracts thousands with cultural troupes and tableaus in city.
The Mysuru Hanumanothsava Samithi took out a procession to mark Hanuma Jayanti in the city on Saturday with a slew of tableau and cultural troupes.
It was the sixth edition of the event conducted by the Samithi which attracted thousands of people and the procession was flagged off from Kote Anjaneyaswamy temple adjoining the palace gate north.
Chamundeshwari MLA G.T. Deve Gowda, Krishnaraja MLA T.S. Srivatsa, former MP Pratap Simha, and others made floral offerings to the idol of lord Hanuman and goddess Bhuvaneshwari.
The procession passed through the main thoroughfares of the city including Ashoka Road, Irwin Road, Sayyaji Rao Road, K.R. Circle, Devaraj Urs Road, Chamaraja Double Road, etc., before ending near the Gun House. Cultural troupes include ensemble of traditional musicians playing Nadaswara and rendering bhajans.
However, the procession also threw the regular traffic in the heart of the city into a disarray as Mysuru is teeming with tourist vehicles for the Christmas and year-end holidays since the last few days.
