Gujarat college principal draws flak for asking students to join BJP

A college principal in Gujarat came under heavy criticism from Congress after he issued a notice to students to join the BJP.
A college principal in Gujarat's Bhavnagar drew flak after issuing a notice to students to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the ruling party in the state. The opposition party Congress has strongly opposed the notice and have demanded action against the college principal. The leaders of the opposition party will also protest against the notice on June 27, Monday.
The principal of Gandhi Girls Arts And Commerce college in Bhavnagar issued a notice to register as a member of the page committee of the BJP.
The notice, which is available with India Today, reads, "To all students of the college, to register as a member of the page committee in the BJP, every student should bring their passport-sized photo. Only students living in Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation limits can become members. Also, every student has to bring a mobile phone to join the BJP membership. All girls students need to take note of it."
The Congress have strongly opposed the notice issued by the college principal and have demanded action in the matter. The college is yet to respond to the incident and it may release an official statement today.
