A 40-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by five men, who poured kerosene inside the woman's private parts and tried to burn her alive on April 8 in Bengal's Namkhana.
The Calcutta High Court has directed Indian Police Service officer Damayanti Sen to supervise the probe into the Namkhana rape case. This comes days after Sen was ordered to supervise four other rape cases reported from Deganga in North 24 Parganas, Malda, Bansdroni and Matia. ape case.
In Namkhana, a 40-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by five men, who poured kerosene inside the woman's private parts and tried to burn her alive on April 8.
According to the complaint, the woman was kidnapped around 4 am when she went out to use the washroom.
She was alone in the house when the accused kidnapped her, took her to the second floor, and gang raped her. The accused then tried to burn her alive by pouring kerosene on her private parts.
The woman’s screams woke her neighbour, who came to check in on her. When the accused saw the neighbours approaching, they fled.

The woman, terrified by the incident, did not immediately file a police report.
