CJI Ramana cites Mahabharata, says mediation as a concept deeply embedded into the Indian ethos

Speaking at the India-Singapore mediation summit on Saturday, CJI Ramana said that amicable dispute settlement has always been a part of the Indian ethos.
Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana on Saturday highlighted the requirement for a law to make mediation the mandatory first step in the dispute resolution process. As per statistics, pendency in Indian courts has reached 45 million cases, which is perceived as the inability of the Indian judiciary to cope with the caseload.More Related News
