Bangladesh celebrates 50 years of victory; President Kovind attends celebration

Members of the armed forces of India, Bhutan, the United States, Russia, and Mexico also took part in the Victory Day parade in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh celebrated 50 years of victory against Pakistan with various arrangements at the National Parade Ground in Dhaka. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was present at the event. President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, joined the celebration.Members of the armed forces of India, Bhutan, the United States, Russia, and Mexico have also taken part in the Victory Day parade in Bangladesh. A contingent of the United Nations team also participated in the event.When the Bangladesh President reached Parade Square at 10:30am, he was welcomed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Liberation War Affairs Minister AQM Mozammel Haque and Chief of the three Armed Forces.Organised by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs and the 9th Infantry Division of the Army, members of the Army, Navy and Air Force, BNCC, BGB, Police, RAB, Ansar and VDP, Coast Guard and Fire Service and Civil Defense took part in the parade.Apart from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangabandhu's youngest daughter Sheikh Rehana, Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, cabinet members, secretaries, armed forces officials, foreign ambassadors and heads of various missions and eminent persons were also present on the occasion.Sabita Kovind, wife of the President of India and Rashida Khanam, wife of the President of Bangladesh also attended the parade.A huge portrait of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was placed in front of the greeting stage. On both sides were pictures of the President and Prime Minister of Bangladesh.On either side of the portrait of Bangabandhu, were pictures of four national leaders and seven heroes of the liberation war. At the beginning of the parade, a huge portrait of Bangabandhu was displayed. Later, busts of seven heroes were taken in front of the saluting dias.Major General Mohammad Shahinul Haque, GOC of the Ninth Infantry Division, was the captain of this year's parade. Liberation War Affairs Minister Mozammel Haque the chiefs of the three forces were with the President on the salutation stage.During the parade, the guests were briefed on the progress of the Muktijoddha Contingent, Armed Forces, various branches of law enforcement, and various ministries of the government.After the parade of infantry, the state-of-the-art equipment greeted the President of Bangladesh. War Dog and the combined cavalry contingent also saluted the President.The well-equipped convoy of various ministries and departments of the government demonstrated the development in a parade.The aerobatic displays of the Air Force's K-8W and MiG-29B fighter jets also captivated the audience. Various maneuvers during the war are displayed.The warplane MiG-29 gave a 'flying salute' to the President of Bangladesh with the participation of the Air Force. At the end of the day, a group of several hundred members led by Lieutenant Colonel Benazir Ahmed saluted the President.One of the highlights of the event was the parachute jump with the national flag, presidential flag and flags of different forces. This time there was also a woman officer from India in the umbrella army.At the end of the annual parade, the President and the Prime Minister usually exchange greetings with the leaders of various contingents. However, this did not happen due to the coronavirus epidemic.People from all walks of life took part in the swearing-in ceremony with the national flag in their pledge to build a prosperous Bangladesh.
