Andhra Pradesh’s SDSTPS unit reached milestone of 100 days of continuous operation for first time

Sri Damodaram Sanjeevaiah Thermal Power Station in Vijayawada achieves 100 days of continuous operation with high efficiency.
The third (800-MW) unit of Sri Damodaram Sanjeevaiah Thermal Power Station (SDSTPS) at Krishnapatnam in Nellore district reached a significant milestone of 100 days of continuous operation for the first time since its Commercial Operation Date (COD) and generated 1,596.30 Million Units (MU) with a Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 83% since November, 18, 2024.
Besides, the SDSTPS is consistently generating 45 MU thereby contributing to 40% of the State’s thermal generation, according to an official release, which said the SDSTPS units have demonstrated superior performance, efficiency, and resilience, and the sustained operations reflect the diligent efforts of the workforce, robust maintenance strategies, and advanced technological interventions that ensured optimal plant performance.
“Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Limited (Genco) as a whole has been generating more than 110 MU from January 2025 to meet the grid demand and achieved an all time high of 123 MU thermal generation on February 22, 2025,” said its MD K.V.N. Chakradhar Babu. He thanked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar and Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand for their support and visionary leadership in strengthening the State power utility.
He stated that A.P. Genco was striving to adopt best practices, improve operational efficiency, reduce emissions and maintain the highest PLF and that the utilities were committed to meeting the State Government’s objective to provide 24x7 power to all categories of consumers and supply power for nine hours during the day to the agriculture sector.
