Aakash Chopra provides simple fix for Indian bowling: Give Yuzvendra Chahal his full quota of overs

India failed to defend a record number of runs scored in Delhi, despite starting well with the ball.
One of the points of contention from the first T20I match between India and South Africa was the rotation of the bowlers by captain Risabh Pant. The young Indian captain, who led the team for the first time was criticised for not bowling out Yuzvendra Chahal. While Chahal went for 26 runs in his 2.1 overs, many believed that Chahal should have been given his full quota of overs to make an impact in the game.
Speaking about the issue on his YouTube channel, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra said that India should be giving Chahal his four overs in all the matches of the series and that is the simplest of fixes that one can provide.
“Should there be any change in the bowling? Get Yuzvendra Chahal to bowl first, give him his full quota of four overs. That's one thing you must do,” Chopra said.
Chahal won the purple cap in the recently concluded Indian Premier League and even took a hat-trick in his tally of 27 wickets.
The pundit also pointed out Harshal Patel’s record for India. He said that Harshal Patel’s statistics for India has been put under scanner and needs to be looked at.
An interesting stat about Harshal Patel is that, he bowls very well at the death, but for RCB he gives nine-odd runs per over but 11 runs per over for India. So he has been slightly under the scanner when it comes to India."
India will be hoping to make a turnaround in the 2nd T20I vs South Africa scheduled to be played in Cuttack on Sunday, 12 June.
