As many as nine prisoners in Nagpur Central Jail have been tested positive for Covid-19, officials confirmed on Friday.
As many as nine prisoners in Nagpur Central Jail have been tested positive for Covid-19, an official of the Health Department of the Municipal Corporation has confirmed.
In view of the increasing number of infections, 12 jail inmates had undergone Covid-19 tests four days ago. Of the samples, four were tested positive. Subsequently, the contact tracing with those infected was initiated by the jail authorities.
On Friday, 5 more prisoners tested positive for Covid-19, taking the count to 9. As per the information, prisoners have mild symptoms and have been quarantined.
As many as 65 new Covid-19 cases have been reported in Nagpur in the last 24 hours. On Friday, 1,899 samples were tested in the district out of which 65, including 5 prisoners, were found to be Covid positive.
These include 46 people from the city and 19 from the rural.
On the recovery front, 60 patients recovered, including 34 from city and 26 from rural.
The active caseload in the district stood at 355, including 223 people from the city and 132 from rural. While 4 people have been admitted, 353 people have been asked to remain in quarantine.
